Scholarships

The ultimate goal for many young athletes is a college scholarship in the sport that they love. The opportunities are out there for those that want to put in the effort. For softball players, the ACES Academy of Softball has a comprehensive program in place that will assist any qualified softball player in the pursuit of their dream.

“Don’t hope for a scholarship……… plan for a scholarship!”

This section of the ACES website will be available for ACES players to use in pursuit of their own scholarship. If you are interested in pursuing a scholarship, please let your coach know and we will get you started.

The process starts in grade 10. Don’t wait.

There is a specific process to follow and a list of things that you need to get done in order to be considered for a scholarship. It is vital that you understand the process so that you can “get in line”.

It is also important to differentiate between an athletic scholarship and an academic scholarship. Softball is not a fully funded sport in the NCAA. This means that “full rides” are very rare. Most schools will make offers based on a combination of academic money and athletic money. Almost any player can qualify for academic money. You simply need the grades. The college coach will put anybody on the roster that has been accepted to the school with some academic money. That doesn’t mean you will play. There are a number of 20 player rosters at colleges.

The real goal for most athletes is to get “athletic” money. If the coach is offering money from the softball side, then you are likely going to a program that wants you. More importantly, it brings the cost of your education down to something that is very affordable, or in some cases, almost nothing.

The ACES Instructors understand what the college coaches are looking for and we can help you achieve your goal. If you are hoping to play softball in college…let us know.
